Hi my name is Lindsey and I am the face behind Libby & May. I live on the beautiful south coast with my husband Mark (Mr Smith) & our 4 children, Emily-May (who is learning to drive), Joe (an aspiring professional footballer), Libby (a sunny, smiley, cheerleader) and baby Maggie (who at almost 10 months has just taken her first steps) and our own little farmyard of animals! Dogs, cats, fish & even a tortoise.
From starting as a Saturday girl in the village shop selling interior furnishings and gifts, to renovating our own home, a desire to create a warm and welcoming home for my friends and family is at the heart of ‘Libby & May’.
The ‘Hygge’ craze is a huge trend right now but essentially a welcoming home is something many of us have been trying to achieve since the day we collected the keys to our first home.
My taste has been inspired by the coziness of the Scandinavian way of living and having spent most of my life growing up in the New Forest & close to the sea, an element of rustic countryside and seaside charm. Many hours spent pouring over magazines, Pinterest and instagram for home inspiration made me think if I was doing this then I probably wasn’t the only one so why not share all the lovely things I’ve found. My aim became to source and create a collection of items to suit a range of styles and tastes and my website ‘Libby & May’ was born.
Which brings us to this blog…For years we have talked about extending our house and after Maggie arrived last year we decided that an extra bedroom and more living space was now more of a necessity than a want. With the rising costs to move, many people are now looking to extend and renovate the spaces they have to gain the room they need. Through ‘At Home With Libby & May’ I hope to share our journey with you whilst offering hints, tips and inspiration for anyone considering starting a home project, big or small.
